Sambuca…vegan as far as I can tell. Like many other clear liquors, Sambuca is made by distilling or infusing a clear alcohol with an aromatic. In this case star anise gives this Italian drink a strong liquorish flavor. Sambuca is also blended with sugar – if you are worried about the source of your sugar, then well, beware.
The truth, I’ve never had Sambuca before. I’m more of a limoncello fan. How about you?
